Sun Fun Festival to be held at the Market Common

Myrtle Beach vacationers will once again enjoy the annual Myrtle Beach Sun Fun Festival this year, happening on June 4 and being hosted at the Grand Park in Market Common.

This will be the year for festivals of all kinds on the Grand Strand. Trying to make up for some of the lost biker revenue, the city fathers are creating them all summer long.

The new Myrtle Beach Boardwalk will help to increase Myrtle Beach condo rentals along its course, particularly bringing some holiday seekers to the new Bay View Resort, and the Sandy Beach Resort.  Both of these are excellent condo-hotels that we recommend visiting, although all of the CondoLux condos are the best in Myrtle Beach.  Other attractions close to the new Boardwalk include Family Kingdom Amusement Park, and the old “Pavilion” strip, which still offers blocks of beachwear stores, Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum, and several other attractions for teenagers and Young-At-Hearters.  Even though the Pavilion itself is no longer there, the gathering places still are, and will bring back memories of your younger years as you stroll down it on a hot summer night!

Here are the activities for June 4th and 5th at the Sun Fun Festival:

Friday, June 4… H2X Racing’s APBA National Jet Ski Championships, beachfront between Damon’s Grill (2985 S. Ocean Blvd.) and Springmaid Beach Resort (3200 S. Ocean Blvd.).  Competition free to spectators.

Saturday, June 5… Bring family and friends, chairs and blankets (no coolers allowed) and enjoy national recording artist Uncle Kracker.

Saturday, June 5… Celebrity meet-and greets with Sterling Knight, “Chad” on Disney’s Sonny with a Chance, Kim Zimmer, “Reva” on CBS’ Guiding Light, and Booboo Stewart of the Twilight Saga.

Saturday, June 5… The kids will get a kick out of the Kids Zone Games featuring inflatable rides and activities.

Saturday, June 5… Enjoy the Fireworks Extravaganza at Grand Park.  Bring the family for this fabulous pyrotechnic show.
