Myrtle Beach July 4 Firework Displays – 2011

June 16th, 2011 - Written By: CondoLux Staff
July 4 Fireworks, Myrtle Beach

Fireworks at Broadway at the Beach

The time is getting close for the “oooohhh’s” and “aaahhhhhhh’s!”  It is hard to escape the cracks, bangs and pows when you head to Myrtle Beach for your Fourth of July vacation.  If you are wondering who is having a fireworks display this year, look no further!  Here is a quick list of the when’s and where’s for July 4, 2011 fireworks in Myrtle Beach, SC!

1) North Myrtle Beach, Cherry Grove Pier

Starts Around 9:30 p.m. – This is the 19th annual fireworks display. The Cherry Grove Pier is located directly in front of Prince Resort in North Myrtle Beach, located at 3500 North Ocean Blvd in North Myrtle Beach. If you are staying at Prince Resort or Pier Watch, you are set! No need to battle the traffic.

2) North Myrtle Beach, Barefoot Landing

Starts Around 10:15 p.m. – Barefoot Landing has fireworks EVERY Monday, and the July 4 is no different! Well, except for an added arsenal of bigger and louder fireworks this time. Barefoot Landing is located at 4898 Highway 17 South in North Myrtle Beach.

3) Myrtle Beach, 2nd Avenue Pier

Starts Around 9:30 p.m. – Huge Booms await at the 2nd Avenue Pier in Myrtle Beach. Located…. well… on 2nd Avenue North in the heart of Myrtle Beach. Our guests staying in Bay View Resort or Oceans One, or even Club Regency are going to have a great view!

4) Myrtle Beach, Broadway at the Beach

Starts Around 10 p.m. – Like Barefoot Landing, Broadway at the Beach has regular fireworks displays as well, but again, this July 4 will be one to remember!

5) Surfside Beach, Surfside Pier

Starts at around 6 p.m. – Bring a chair and check out the variety show starting at 6 p.m.. There will also be balloon rides for the kids and fireworks once it gets dark. Located at 11 South Ocean Blvd. in Surfside Beach.

Fair warning to all who want to drive to these locations. The traffic will be VERY busy, especially on the 2nd Avenue in Myrtle Beach.  The Cherry Grove Pier only has one main road in and out too, so factor in traffic during your commute. Just a fair warning that you should get to the area early and secure your parking spot.  Head to the beach and relax. There will be plenty of people setting off fireworks on the beach as well. Also, don’t forget about the tide that night either. If you park your sandy spot  close to the water, chances are, you might have to relocate! Here is the tide schedule for July 4 from the National Ocean Service.

Low 4:23 a.m.  -  High 10:23 AM
Low 4:31 PM  -   High 10:34 PM

We wish everyone a safe an happy July 4, 2011!

The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel Puts a New Spin on the Ferris Wheel

June 7th, 2011 - Written By: CondoLux Staff

Remember the Ferris wheel at the county fair? As rides go, it was pretty lame. If you were lucky, the price of a ticket would get you a kiss from your girl at the top, but aside from the great view of the livestock barn, there wasn’t much else to get excited about. Now, if it had been 200 feet tall with an awesome view of the Atlantic Ocean, that would have been a different story.

The new SkyWheel in Myrtle Beach is the Ferris wheel of your dreams – or maybe of your nightmares. Either way, it’s an adrenaline-pumping ride that you can’t afford to miss the next time you visit the Grand Strand. Myrtle Beach has always had plenty going for it. The Strand itself, the golf courses, the shows, the Calabash-style seafood, sandy beaches, and, of course, the star of the show, the Atlantic Ocean. But it’s never had anything like the SkyWheel.

Billed as an “observation wheel” because of the stunning views from the cars, the SkyWheel has 42 air-conditioned glass cars that each seat six people and offer 360 degree views. One of the cars, the VIP Gondola, as the owners like to call it, has leather seats and a glass floor. Forget the leather seats; the glass floor alone is worth the extra price of the VIP ticket. The wheel has over a million LED lights, and the developers aren’t letting them go to waste; every night after sunset they use them to put on a light show.

This is a Ferris wheel that’s worthy of the name. Unlike the dinky little ride at the county fair, the first Ferris wheel was a skyline-hogging monster built for the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. The promoters were trying to one-up the Paris Exposition of 1889, which unveiled the Eiffel Tower. It was 264 feet high and carried 2,160 people at a time.

The SkyWheel is located at the northern end of the Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Twelve bucks gets you 12 minutes worth of unbelievable views. Kids 3-11, seniors and military ride for $8 and babies are free.

The SkyWheel is located at 1110 North Ocean BlvdMyrtle Beach, SC 29577, near a few of our condos you can see on the map!!

Visit the SkyWheel’s Official website.

TODAYS show says Myrtle Beach is #1!! (vacation beach destination that is)

February 14th, 2011 - Written By: CondoLux Staff

It’s funny how the media piggy-backs off one another. Perfect example here.

The Sun News reported the NBC TODAY show reported TripAdvisor reported that Myrtle Beach was the #1 beach destination, according to an article published in the Sun News today from an NBC broadcast this morning from TripAdvisor last May. We’d like to report that.

Confused yet?  Don’t worry. Basically, TripAdvisor published a list last year of top beach destinations in the United States and put Myrtle Beach to the top!  They put San Diego, Calif.; Poipu, Hawaii; Cape May, N.J.; and Clearwater, Fla. as numbers 2 to 4.

Keep in mind, Myrtle Beach is not just MYRTLE BEACH, but commonly refereed to by locals and those hip to the lingo as “the Grand Strand” — 60 miles of beautiful coastline with 3 piers, excellent state parks, and public beach access. So if you are planning on coming to Myrtle Beach, don’t forget to check out our deals on Myrtle Beach vacation condo rentals, or beach home rentals. (And the rentals in North Myrtle Beach as well.)

Come to Myrtle Beach for the Holiday Shows!

November 24th, 2010 - Written By: Myrtle Beach Web Design

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede

It’s that time of year, and Myrtle Beach turns into a winter and Christmas Wonderland again. From the twinkling lights on hundreds of palm trees, eaves, and shrubs, to multitudes of stores with red and green sequins and sparkles, nobody does Christmas like the Grand Strand.

And all our great live theatres spend November and December feeding the child in all of us, with Christmas songs, bright lights, and more sparkles for an hour or so than all the town’s decorations combined.

If you’re planning a Myrtle Beach vacation for the holidays, here’s what we’ve found for you to choose from!

The Carolina Opry – Believe it or not, this is the 25th season for the Opry’s Christmas Show! There’s always a lot of glitz and glamour, carols and favorite holiday songs. Add a heavy dose of sentiment and a little bit of comedy, and you’ve got the all-time favorite Myrtle Beach Christmas show. Plan ahead and buy your tickets before you go – the weekends can fill up sometimes!

The Dixie Stampede – Celebrating its final year in Myrtle Beach, this show is always one of the best holiday shows of all. Great food, beautiful horses, lots of talent, and all kinds of southern sentiment combine for an exciting time and a perfect dinner. The Dixie Stampede will really be missed in Myrtle Beach, and this is your last chance to enjoy it.

Theatre of the Republic in Conway – This professional live theatre is a hidden locals’ gem. You won’t find a lot of advertising, but these folks can put on a Broadway show that rivals the real thing. For the Holidays they offer “Holiday on Main Street: Tis’ the Season”. Shows are limited – December 8-11, and 15-18 at 8pm; with a 3pm matinee on December 11-12 and 18-19. Visit their website at www.theatreoftherepublic.com and consider something a little different for your Christmas this year.  You won’t regret it.  Tickets are VERY reasonable, too!

The Palace Theatre- Christmas on Ice - features dancing and ice skating to the traditional Christmas songs, performed by some of Broadway’s best singers. Christmas is always beautiful on the ice!

For information on some of the shows and for the best Myrtle Beach condo rentals around, give us a call as soon as possible or book accommodations on our website. We hope you’ll visit us for the holidays!

Myrtle Beach Restaurant Discounts Off-Season

September 28th, 2010 - Written By: Myrtle Beach Web Design

Get coupons for the Myrtle Beach Red Lobster

We have a special kind of visitor in Myrtle Beach during the off-season – Snow Birds! Aside from getting to spend several months in an oceanfront condo in Myrtle Beach for less than renting an apartment, there are other ways to save while you’re here.  And even if you just come down for a weekend in the fall or spring to enjoy our mild weather, you can benefit as well.  How?  By getting on the mailing list of the restaurants’ websites we have at the beach!

The chain restaurants like Red Lobster have some of the best deals around for their signup members.  Most people have the chains near their homes too, so you can use the discounts there as well as here most of the time.  Almost all of them will send you a nifty coupon for your birthday.  You can practically eat out the whole month of your birthday for half price or even free if you take the time to either fill out a coupon in the restaurant or join at their website.  Here are some of the best ones!

www.redlobster.com      Red Lobster
www.bonefishgrill.com      Bonefish
www.ribsribsribs.com        Damons Ribs
www.stickyfingers.com       Sticky Fingers Ribs
www.Dominos.com       Domino’s Pizza
www.pizzahut.com      Pizza Hut
www.abuelos.com       Abuelo’s Gourmet Mexican
www.carrabbas.com      Carrabbas Italian
www.tbonz.com      TBonz Steak and Seafood

In addition to the chains, you can go to WBTW TV’s website and purchase
many coupons good for $25 at certain restaurants for $10.  We did this last year and ate some absolutely wonderful meals at Baron’s and several other places.  This is actually going through www.restaurant.com, so you can sign up there and get these deals in most good sized cities everywhere.

If you’re a Facebook fan, use their search form and look up “Myrtle Beach”.  You’ll find a Facebook page for half the restaurants we have here, as well as condo rental companies in Myrtle Beach, (like Condolux!) stores, malls, and all kinds of local businesses. Many of them run coupons or specials all year long!

You can save all kinds of money and eat like a king just by spending a few minutes on your computer.  Give it a try!

Tony Roma’s Leaving Broadway

September 16th, 2010 - Written By: Myrtle Beach Web Design

I was sad to see that Burroughs and Chapin (owners of Broadway at the Beach) had decided not to renew the lease for Tony Roma’s Ribs this time. It was speculated that they had some other restaurant or something more profitable lined up to fill their very lucrative spot right where most everyone enters from the back of the mall.

Tony Romas in Myrtle Beach

Tony Roma’s is one of the best rib places I’ve ever been to, and the only one we have here that has BEEF ribs…at least ones that are charbroiled and tasty…not boiled or baked to pieces.

I hope they find another location, and even better, come on to North Myrtle Beach!  They were about the only reason I had to go to Broadway, so that will be a few less trips to make there…what a shame!
